Alcohol & Drugs

Alcohol & Drug useprescription-drugs

Driving down the street you see a billboard. It shows a group of young, attractive people. Everyone is smiling and having fun and in everyone’s hand is a bottle of beer. Or you see a commercial with some men in the forest. There is a beautiful stream nearby and they’re all sitting around the campfire holding a beer. The commercial depicts a scene that says that good friends and good beer equal a good time.

Is drinking really that much fun?  Or is it a sin which can cause a lot of pain and regret?

1Ko 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor abusers, nor homosexuals,

1Ko 6:10  nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

Gal 5:19  Now the works of the flesh are clearly revealed, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lustfulness,

Gal 5:20  idolatry, sorcery, hatreds, fightings, jealousies, angers, rivalries, divisions, heresies,

Gal 5:21  envyings, murders, drunkennesses, revelings, and things like these; of which I tell you before, as I also said before, that they who do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

Spr 23:19 My son, hear and be wise, and guide your heart in the way.

Spr 23:20  Do not be among those who drink much wine, among gluttons for flesh for themselves,

Spr 23:21  for the drunkard and the glutton lose all

Tit 2:11  For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men,

Tit 2:12  teaching us that having denied ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live discreetly, righteously and godly, in this present world

The Word of God clearly tells us that not only must we ourselves not misuse alcohol, but we shouldn’t even be among people who do!

Ever wondered why exactly drinking and getting drunk is a sin? Satan loves it when you drink and get high! Being in a drunk or high state opens you up to be spiritually attacked.  Some Indians use natural drugs to get high so that they can talk to their “spiritual guides” (devils sent by Satan) There are specific demonic spirits associated with liquor and marijuana and cocaine and heroin, and opium, etc., and every time you use these substances, you could unknowingly be opening the doorway for these demonic spirits to come into your life.

Efs 6:12  For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the world’s rulers, of the darkness of this age, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

If you are drunk, you are in no position to withstand wickedness and open yourself to sin.  Think about what you did last time you were drunk?  Did it make you feel wonderful afterwards or were you crying and holding your head down in shame.  How many people have been killed because of drunk drivers? How many babies have been aborted because two drunken strangers had sex that they later regretted? How many men and women have committed crimes against their neighbors and friends because they had to get some money for a quick fix?

Does Satan love the way you drink and get high? Are you living sober? Are you on guard? Remember Ephesians 6:11 instructs you to “Put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” So if you are struggling with sin in different areas of your life, ask yourself, “Am I leaving the door wide open for Satan by the things I involve myself with?” And ask yourself, “Do I treat my body like the temple of the Holy Spirit or more like a temple of devils?”

Drunkenness is a sin.  God sent His only Son to earth to be crucified and died for our sin, so that we, if we believe in Him and live according to His Word, will be saved from eternal damnation and punishment from sin.  By receiving Jesus Christ you will be able to share in eternal life with Him.  You can also then call upon the Lord to help you withstand temptation from sin and He will help you and set you free from your sin, pain and shame.

If you want to give your life to Jesus, please pray this out loud now there where you are right now:

Dear God, I acknowledge that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. I believe that He was born of the Virgin Mary. I believe that He died on the cross, that His blood was shed for my sins and that He arose from the dead. I confess that I have disobeyed your commandments. I ask you to forgive me for these sins. I now ask Jesus to come into my heart. Be my Savior. Be my Lord. Be my soon coming King. I will do my best to obey your teachings as recorded in the Bible. Thank you, in Jesus name. Amen.
